How to avoid open count increase when you open your sent email

You can prevent the email tracker from counting as open the emails that you open yourself. Here we explain step by step how to do it.

This only happens with Gmail accounts due to the way in which Google saves the images that go through their servers. Therefore, you do not need to follow these steps if you are using a different service provider.

Configure a URL proxy whitelist

First of all, configure a URL proxy whitelisting for Nylas images.

1. Sign in to your Google Admin console. Sign in using an administrator account, not your current account.

2. From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > End User Access. Tip: To see End User Access, scroll to the bottom of the Gmail page.

3. On the left, select your top-level organization.

4. Scroll to the Image URL proxy whitelist section.

5. Enter the image URL proxy whitelist pattern for Nylas. Matching URLs will bypass image proxy protection. These are the URLs that you need to enter:

nyl.as/

t.nylas.com/

6. At the bottom, click SAVE.

7. Download and install the Bloobirds extension from the Chrome Store.

You can track prior changes under the Admin console audit log. Note! These changes will take 24 hours to be effective.

Limitations

If you self-open your email on the mobile phone, it will be counted as open.
